4th-graders brainwashed with Occupy ‘propaganda’
Written by Ed on December 11, 2011 – 11:08 pm -A Connecticut dad has accused an industry giant in education, Scholastic, of delivering Occupy Wall Street propaganda to his 4th grade daughter in her school classroom.
The company’s response?
“We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns with us and I made sure that staff in our corporate headquarters will see your comments. Again, thank you. We truly appreciate your support of Scholastic Book Clubs.”
The father, Edward, whose last name is being withheld so his daughter is not identified, told WND it was the standard, “We don’t care about your opinion” response that he expected.

ACORN Misused Federal Grant Funds
Written by Ed on December 2, 2011 – 11:00 pm -A funding group set up by now-defunct community organization ACORN had misappropriated money from a grant it received from the federal government, according to an audit report released by the Department of Justice.
The report examines an Office of Justice Programs grant to the New York Agency for Community Affairs, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit that was set up by ACORN for nearly $140,000 back in 2005.
The funds were originally granted to NYACA on behalf of ACORN, which requested the funds for a program to recruit and train youth leaders, but the scope of the project changed to advocate an increase in local funding for after-school programs with a sum of $100 million over three years. The change of the project’s intent allegedly violated the conditions of the grant, because NYACA and ACORN did not receive approval from the Office of Justice Programs.

Some Belated Parental Advice to the Occupy Wall Street Protesters
Written by Ed on November 16, 2011 – 10:42 pm -Some Belated Parental Advice to the Occupy Wall Street Protesters
Beautiful rant on the Occupy Wall Street protesters from a mother of four.
Posted By Marybeth Hicks On October 19, 2011
Call it an occupational hazard, but I can’t look at the Occupy Wall Street protesters without thinking, “Who parented these people?”
As a culture columnist, I’ve commented on the social and political ramifications of the “movement” – now known as “OWS” – whose fairyland agenda can be summarized by one of their placards: “Everything for everybody.” Thanks to their pipe-dream platform, it’s clear there are people with serious designs on “transformational” change in America who are using the protesters like bedsprings in a brothel.
Yet it’s not my role as a commentator that prompts my parenting question, but rather the fact that I’m the mother of four teens and young adults. There are some crucial life lessons that the protesters’ moms clearly have not passed along. Here, then, are five things the OWS protesters’ mothers should have taught their children but obviously didn’t, so I will:
- Life isn’t fair. The concept of justice – that everyone should be treated fairly – is a worthy and worthwhile moral imperative on which our nation was founded. But justice and economic equality are not the same. Or, as Mick Jagger said, “You can’t always get what you want.” No matter how you try to “level the playing field,” some people have better luck, skills, talents or connections that land them in better places. Some seem to have all the advantages in life but squander them, others play the modest hand they’re dealt and make up the difference in hard work and perseverance, and some find jobs on Wall Street and eventually buy houses in the Hamptons. Is it fair? Stupid question.
- Nothing is “free.” Protesting with signs that seek “free” college degrees and “free” health care make you look like idiots, because colleges and hospitals don’t operate on rainbows and sunshine. There is no magic money machine to tap for your meandering educational careers and “slow paths” to adulthood, and the 53 percent of taxpaying Americans owe you neither a degree nor an annual physical. While I’m pointing out this obvious fact, here are a few other things that are not free: overtime for police officers and municipal workers, trash hauling, repairs to fixtures and property, condoms, Band-Aids and the food that inexplicably appears on the tables in your makeshift protest kitchens. Real people with real dollars are underwriting your civic temper tantrum.
- Your word is your bond. When you demonstrate to eliminate student loan debt, you are advocating precisely the lack of integrity you decry in others. Loans are made based on solemn promises to repay them. No one forces you to borrow money; you are free to choose educational pursuits that don’t require loans, or to seek technical or vocational training that allows you to support yourself and your ongoing educational goals. Also, for the record, being a college student is not a state of victimization. It’s a privilege that billions of young people around the globe would die for – literally.
- A protest is not a party. On Saturday in New York, while making a mad dash from my cab to the door of my hotel to avoid you, I saw what isn’t evident in the newsreel footage of your demonstrations: Most of you are doing this only for attention and fun. Serious people in a sober pursuit of social and political change don’t dance jigs down Sixth Avenue like attendees of a Renaissance festival. You look foolish, you smell gross, you are clearly high and you don’t seem to realize that all around you are people who deem you irrelevant.
- There are reasons you haven’t found jobs. The truth? Your tattooed necks, gouged ears, facial piercings and dirty dreadlocks are off-putting. Nonconformity for the sake of nonconformity isn’t a virtue. Occupy reality: Only 4 percent of college graduates are out of work. If you are among that 4 percent, find a mirror and face the problem. It’s not them. It’s you.

Look who’s deciding American court cases
Written by Ed on November 8, 2011 – 10:55 pm -Islamic law, or Shariah, already is being applied in the U.S. court system, according to an extensive new report.
A recent Center for Security Policy study called “Shariah Law and American State Courts: An Assessment of State Appellate Court Cases outlines dozens of cases in which the Islamic system of law has been applied.
Center spokesman David Reaboi said the Islamic strictures are being carried out mostly in cases in which foreigners are the principals.
“Shariah enters U.S. courts through the practice of comity to foreign law,” Reaboi explained. “This happens, for example, when a judge decides to allow the use of say, Pakistani or Saudi family law (Shariah) in a dispute between Pakistanis or Saudis.”
He said the study only scratches the surface of Shariah’s presence in the nation.

Jailed border agent’s family warned of massive fine
Written by Ed on November 8, 2011 – 3:43 pm -The federal government has sent a collection notice to the family of a Border Patrol agent who was jailed and fined for pulling on the arms of a handcuffed suspect to get him to comply with orders, according to a charitable organization working on a defense for Jesus E. Diaz Jr.
WND reported earlier on a call for Congress to hold hearings to uncover why U.S. law enforcement officers are being charged, prosecuted and sent to prison for apparently doing what their jobs require.
That call came from President Andy Ramirez of the Law Enforcement Officers Advocates Council, which is working on Diaz’ case. The officer was sentenced to 24 months in jail and fined nearly $7,000 for his conviction based on the testimony of a drug smuggler who was given immunity to testify.

Immigration program suit thrown out
Written by Ed on November 3, 2011 – 11:00 pm -MARIETTA — A federal court judge recently dismissed a class action lawsuit against Cobb Sheriff Neil Warren, Cobb Chairman Tim Lee and others brought by “Hispanic resident aliens” alleging violations of their constitutional rights.
In an Oct. 19 ruling, Judge Charles Pannell Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia dismissed the suit targeting Warren’s use of the 287(g) program, a federal tool that helps Cobb police assist the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the deportation process.
According to the dismissal order, the lawsuit alleges that Cobb County Police Department officers failed to inform the plaintiffs of their Miranda rights, illegally seized immigration documents which would have allowed them to stay in the country and denied them access to lawyers. The lawsuit also alleges that the 287(g) program allows local authorities to wield immigration powers reserved to the federal government without proper oversight, according to the order.
These people really have some nerve, come here illegally and say their constitutional rights have been violated.
