60 watts is 60 watts!
Written by chuck on July 5, 2008 – 2:14 pm -Our Government at work!
I went to Dan’s Fan City to purchase a fan with a light kit. I noticed many had the small sockets and asked why. Bob the manager told me the government requires all light kits made after 1/1/2008 to have the small base. I asked why and he said to save energy.

What is the energy difference between a small base 60 watt bulb and a regular base 60 watt bulb? The correct answer is nothing. 60 watts used from a small light bulb is the same as 60 watt from a large light bulb. You do not need a degree in rocket science to know this!
This is the same folks who believe in man-made Global Warning.

Heinz sells mayo with homosexual kiss
Written by chuck on June 28, 2008 – 11:32 am -Guests on Bill O’Reilly’s Fox News Channel program laughed, saying the company was just “having fun with some gender blending” and warning not to read any agenda into the ad.
O’Reilly disagreed, insisting, “It was obviously a gay thing.”

Note from Chuck:
I have no problem with gays, as long as they keep to themselves and they do.
I do have a major problem with a large company showing an ad like this. Effective today, I will no longer purchase Heinz products. I am just one person, so I am sure it will not hurt their bottom line.

Day Light Saving Time poll.
Written by chuck on March 18, 2008 – 11:14 am -My poll on day light saving time is very interesting. 60% like it and I am surprised. Most of the folks I know would rather not have day light saving time. Oh well… life goes on. Thanks to all who answered the poll question.

Important sleep question!
Written by chuck on February 16, 2008 – 7:43 am -Why is it on mornings when you must get up to go to work, you could very easily fall back to sleep. But, on mornings when you don’t have to get up, you can’t go back to sleep?
While I feel this is an important question, let’s hope the government does not find out about it and spend millions on research!

Why spend hundreds to replace counter tops when ….
Written by chuck on December 6, 2007 – 8:25 pm -Why spend hundreds to replace counter tops when you can paint them?
I live in a house that is 77 years old, and back then they had ORANGE counter tops. My girlfriend, did not like the orange counter tops and I did not want to spends hundreds on new counter tops. She said she could paint them, and sure enough, she did! I have decided I will keep her around for a while!

Marble Painted Counter Tops
1. If you have any bad spots fill them with wood putty.
2. Sand counter top softly with 150 grit sand paper.
3. Clean the top real good with soap and water, then with rubbing alcohol.
4. Prime with a color that is almost as dark as your darkest color. **
5. Use a sea sponge roller and apply your dark (gray) color.
6. Use a sea sponge lighter (gray) color.
7. Use a sea sponge and apply white, you may want to add more dark gray.
8. Apply six coats of water based gloss polyurethane sand with 200 grit sand paper in between the first couple of coats.
**Of course, you may want to use different colors.
Cost less than $75.00! It cost me more because I replaced the kitchen sink.

***** Take your own coffee pot! *****
Written by chuck on November 2, 2007 – 7:04 pm -My girlfriend and I went to Knoxville for a 3 day mini vacation. We decided to fix coffee around 4 PM in our room with the motels 4 cup coffee maker. The coffee maker would not work so we requested another one. The manager brought us one and I told my girlfriend to check it out, so we would be sure to have coffee the next morning. She ran 4 cups of water thru the maker and the water was VERY brown and black stuff was floating in the water. We went to the drug store and purchased a bottle of vinegar. After running a complete bottle of vinegar thru the coffee maker we fixed coffee the next morning. I still not sure it was clean!
I am going to purchase a 2 cup coffee maker and NEVER use a motel coffee maker again.

Stinky Atlanta
Written by chuck on October 24, 2007 – 4:45 pm -I am not into doomsday stories, and I feel Atlanta will get rain and they will not run out of water. But let’s assume they do run out of water on February 1, 2008. This could be a larger disaster than 911 and Katrina.
While I feel our government, under the proper leadership, could supply enough bottled water for drinking purposes, there are many other things to consider.
Since there would be no water to flush the toilets, all businesses would have to close down. Any fires that got started would continue to burn. Atlanta is a major postage hub, and while UPS and FedEx would be able to route their packages to other hubs, I don’t have that much confidence in the postal service.
Can you imagine how stinky your homes would become in a few days without flushing your toilets?!

My girlfriend Lisa, is a true blonde!
Written by chuck on July 29, 2007 – 2:01 pm -Lisa told me about a story that happen years ago when she was married. Seems there was a fire two door down and someone yelled for her to call 911. She yelled back, ” what is the number.”
OK…. maybe I understand, lots of smoke and fire and maybe she just got confused!
For the last week, she has been complaining about the lotion she was using on her legs. She kept telling me it was more like soap than lotion and she spent 5 minutes shaking the bottle one night trying to get the lotion to mix up. She also said she was going to E-mail the manufacturer and complain.
Finally, after a week, she took another look at the bottle, and guess what… it was bath soap. Yeah… I know the lotion and soap bottles do look alike.
You just got to love a blonde!
