Perhaps the question isn’t “Is America Islamophobic?” but instead “Should America Be Islamophobic?”

Salute the Danish Flag – it’s a Symbol of Western Freedom
By Susan MacAllen
In 1978-9 I was living and studying in Denmark. But in 1978 – even in Copenhagen, one didn’t see Muslim immigrants.
The Danish population embraced visitors, celebrated the exotic, went out of its way to protect each of its citizens. It was proud of its new brand of socialist liberalism one in development since the conservatives had lost power in 1929 – a system where no worker had to struggle to survive, where one ultimately could count upon the state as in, perhaps, no other western nation at the time.
The rest of Europe saw the Scandinavians as free-thinking, progressive and infinitely generous in their welfare policies. Denmark boasted low crime rates, devotion to the environment, a superior educational system and a history of humanitarianism.
Denmark was also most generous in its immigration policies – it offered the best welcome in Europe to the new immigrant: generous welfare payments from first arrival plus additional perks in transportation, housing and education. It was determined to set a world example for inclusiveness and multiculturalism. How could it have predicted that one day in 2005 a series of political cartoons in a newspaper would spark violence that would leave dozens dead in the streets – all because its commitment to multiculturalism would come back to bite?
By the 1990′s the growing urban Muslim population was obvious – and its unwillingness to integrate into Danish society was obvious. Years of immigrants had settled into Muslim-exclusive enclaves. As the Muslim leadership became more vocal about what they considered the decadence of Denmark’s liberal way of life, the Danes – once so welcoming – began to feel slighted. Many Danes had begun to see Islam as incompatible with their long-standing values: belief in personal liberty and free speech, in equality for women, in tolerance for other ethnic groups, and a deep pride in Danish heritage and history.
An article by Daniel Pipes and Lars Hedegaard, in which they forecasted, accurately, that the growing immigrant problem in Denmark would explode. In the article they reported:
‘Muslim immigrants constitute 5 percent of the population but consume upwards of 40 percent of the welfare spending.’
‘Muslims are only 4 percent of Denmark’s 5.4 million people but make up a majority of the country’s convicted rapists, an especially combustible issue given that practically all the female victims are non-Muslim. Similar, if lesser, disproportions are found in other crimes.’
‘Over time, as Muslim immigrants increase in numbers, they wish less to mix with the indigenous population. A recent survey finds that only 5 percent of young Muslim immigrants would readily marry a Dane.’
‘Forced marriages – promising a newborn daughter in Denmark to a male cousin in the home country, then compelling her to marry him, sometimes on pain of death – are one problem.’
‘Muslim leaders openly declare their goal of introducing Islamic law once Denmark’s Muslim population grows large enough – a not-that-remote prospect. If present trends persist, one sociologist estimates, every third inhabitant of Denmark in 40 years will be Muslim.’
It is easy to understand why a growing number of Danes would feel that Muslim immigrants show little respect for Danish values and laws.
An example is the phenomenon common to other European countries and Canada: some Muslims in Denmark who opted to leave the Muslim faith have been murdered in the name of Islam, while others hide in fear for their lives. Jews are also threatened and harassed openly by Muslim leaders in Denmark, a country where once Christian citizens worked to smuggle out nearly all of their 7,000 Jews by night to Sweden – before the Nazis could invade. I think of my Danish friend Elsa – who, as a teenager, had dreaded crossing the street to the bakery every morning under the eyes of occupying Nazi soldiers – and I wonder what she would say today.
In 2001, Denmark elected the most conservative government in some 70 years – one that had some decidedly non-generous ideas about liberal unfettered immigration. Today, Denmark has the strictest immigration policies in Europe. (Its effort to protect itself has been met with accusations of ‘racism’ by liberal media across Europe – even as other governments struggle to right the social problems wrought by years of too-lax immigration.)
If you wish to become Danish, you must attend three years of language classes. You must pass a test on Denmark’s history, culture, and a Danish language test. You must live in Denmark for 7 years before applying for citizenship. You must demonstrate an intent to work, and have a job waiting. If you wish to bring a spouse into Denmark, you must both be over 24 years of age, and you won’t find it so easy anymore to move your friends and family to Denmark with you.
You will not be allowed to build a mosque in Copenhagen. Although your children have a choice of some 30 Arabic culture and language schools in Denmark, they will be strongly encouraged to assimilate to Danish society in ways that past immigrants weren’t.
In 2006, the Danish minister for employment, Claus Hjort Frederiksen, spoke publicly of the burden of Muslim immigrants on the Danish welfare system, and it was horrifying: the government’s welfare committee had calculated that if immigration from Third World countries were blocked, 75 percent of the cuts needed to sustain the huge welfare system in coming decades would be unnecessary. In other words, the welfare system, as it existed, was being exploited by immigrants to the point of eventually bankrupting the government. ‘We are simply forced to adopt a new policy on immigration.’
‘The calculations of the welfare committee are terrifying and show how unsuccessful the integration of immigrants has been up to now,’ he said.
A large thorn in the side of Denmark’s imams is the Minister of Immigration and Integration, Rikke Hvilshoj. She makes no bones about the new policy toward immigration, ‘The number of foreigners coming to the country makes a difference,’ Hvilshoj says, ‘There is an inverse correlation between how many come here and how well we can receive the foreigners that come.’ And on Muslim immigrants needing to demonstrate a willingness to blend in, ‘In my view, Denmark should be a country with room for different cultures and religions. Some values, however, are more important than others. We refuse to question democracy, equal rights, and freedom of speech.’
Hvilshoj has paid a price for her show of backbone. Perhaps to test her resolve, the leading radical imam in Denmark, Ahmed Abdel Rahman Abu Laban, demanded that the government pay blood money to the family of a Muslim who was murdered in a suburb of Copenhagen, stating that the family’s thirst for revenge could be thwarted for money. When Hvilshoj dismissed his demand, he argued that in Muslim culture the payment of retribution money was common, to which Hvilshoj replied that what is done in a Muslim country is not necessarily what is done in Denmark.
The Muslim reply came soon after: her house was torched while she, her husband and children slept. All managed to escape unharmed, but she and her family were moved to a secret location and she and other ministers were assigned bodyguards for the first time – in a country where such murderous violence was once so scarce.
Her government has slid to the right, and her borders have tightened. Many believe that what happens in the next decade will determine whether Denmark survives as a bastion of good living, humane thinking and social responsibility, or whether it becomes a nation at civil war with supporters of Sharia law.
And meanwhile, Canadians clamor for stricter immigration policies, and demand an end to state welfare programs that allow many immigrants to live on the public dole. As we in Canada look at the enclaves of Muslims amongst us, and see those who enter our shores too easily, dare live on our taxes, yet refuse to embrace our culture, respect our traditions, participate in our legal system, obey our laws, speak our language, appreciate our history. We would do well to look to Denmark, and say a prayer for her future and for our own.

I think the last paragraph that describes Canadians feelings embrace my feelings too. I could only add, People wake up don’t make the US into Denmark 2010. I personally know someone that has been there and their thoughts to me were it was like going into a middle eastern country with a cold climate and very disappointing.

yes you are right all of the people coming here from other countries are trying to make this country ( a country of freedom) into a country of oppression. the xenophobia that is present in the right wing media is disturbing. yes we will throw our rights away cause it might offend some knucklehead. this is a free society not one that is afraid, how many times in the past has it been done? way to many. I would think that the American people are smarter than that but I have been wrong. and heck we cant get most of the people that are citizens to behave in a civilized manner or follow the laws. do Americans have a culture? or is it taken/adopted from other countries and the people that yearn to be free? would you want to shut the boarders down and not let anyone in ever again? this country is a melting pot, everything that we have is from somewhere else otherwise we would be still hunting on the plains. Pollyanna thinking, possible, but I am hopeful.

Again cat, you have a different picture than most of us. Would you allow a family of rats in the same room as your young children? These people have proven themselves to be nothing but a threat to everyone but themselves and serve no contribution to society but hatred and damage to our existence. If they want to build a good society, let them build it in their own country and prove themselves. This country was built on the Christian faith and I believe it should remain that way. It’s like letting a trailer in a gated community.

Cat: first we heard from the lady from Lebanon who told her “it can’t happen here, not in Lebanon” story; now we hear from this “it can’t happen here, not in Denmark” story, and we are seeing increased Islamization across all the major countries in Europe with the same predictable results: inordinate share of welfare/dole, increased vocalization of demands to accommodate Shari’s over established “national” values, and yet you seem to insist that “it can’t happen here’ – or worse yet, that it WILL happen here but it somehow a good thing because it will show them [the Muslims] how open and accepting we are, right up to the moment when they outlaw open and accepting
being open and welcoming is one thing, but they want to come here, so perhaps it is they who should accommodate and not we; America became the great country it became through immigration, but also importantly because the immigrants who came and made America great concentrated on becoming American and being assimilated and making America into ITS ideal and not on remaking America into the place they just left

no I will agree with you about one thing. the extremists are the problem. and that is ANY religion or religious beliefs. this Country is not a christian country otherwise we would be just as bad as any other pinhead theocracy. As I have said before this is a secular country with many beliefs one of them are any more right than the others. the bill of rights has that in the first amendment. or should we become a true theocracy and put in power Pat Robertson? billy graham? ted haggard? and say the appointment is the word of GOD. So which version of Christianity? this is country of laws for all (except for the rich and powerful) not a law of the bible. there are terrorist types in ALL religions. should only the christian ones be allowed a free pass?

Cat, do you think that if you were to imigrate to Russia, France, Spain, China, etc. that you would be able to be accepted if you started out wanting them to change their language to suit you? Sir, they would tell you in a heartbeat, “you learn our language or leave.”
If you wanted to force your religious preference or lack of it on them it would be the same reaction. I have no problems with immigration. The thing I do have problems with is people who do not go through the proper channels to get into our country and eventually get citizenship. They come in and want our schools to teach their language to grammar schoolers as well as English. They want to make their demands about their political practices, their medical care, their education etc. Which brings up one more thing. Do you think for one minute you would go to their country on a student visa and after 3 months drop out of school but stay here illegally. I don’t think so for one minute. You want to place everything into little compartments and if it is an idea you think is good you put it in one of your compartments. Anyone elses thoughts go in the garbage of your atheist way of thinking. I think we all need to take everyone’s ideas into consideration instead of saying that everyone who doesn’t think like you do is a shill that uses religion to hide behind. Your ideas of people who are religious leaders in our country as members of a Christian theocracy. What is so wrong with that? There could be worse things happen. They are going to happen if you and people like you have no tolerance for anyone who does not think exactly to the letter the way you do. That ain’t the way it works Bud.

Hmmm since we are not in any of those other countries, it is kind of a moot point. if you go into the hospital in some of those countries they do not ask you about your insurance or if you can pay (novel idea). but as far as the theocracy in this country I would be against it completely, this is America not some knuckle dragging my god is better than yours place. some people would like a theocracy and to that I would say go to a different country. gee I wonder why the founders of this country started with the first amendment. and yes it would be very bad if this country became a theocracy then your freedom and everyone else’s would be thrown out the window. DO YOU WANT THAT? wouldn’t think so. what part of the bible or which bible to use? what kind of Christianity to use and make the government mandate? you think that corruption is bad now just wait t would be worse. if you are female you would lose all of your rights. I wouldn’t want that for anyone. Atheist yes I am. do I push my beliefs on others NO. your religion and your faith is yours and ours alone. works for you great. doesn’t for me, dos that make me a lesser person, NOT in America. but to some of the brethren, that believe that if you are not of their faith or belief then you are a lesser person. I think that is in the bible somewhere, maybe not. Jesus said and taught people to be nice to each other.but that is a different story. do I care what other people are doing? not really if they are not hurting anyone. many other countries look to us in the US to be the moral beacon. you cannot be a moral beacon if you are a theocracy otherwise Afghanistan would have been one.

Cat as someone who has been to England, France, Spain, Austria Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands…Haven’t been to scandanavia (Denmark, Norway Finland) but in those medical facilities the ABSOLUTELY DO ask for payment.
True the operate like the US hospitals in that the will treat you regardless of ability to pay, however they expect payment. Either you have Cash, a US Medical Insurance Card (for example BC/BS)or their National ID card (oh the horrors – - proof of citizenship) and you must present a passport!
As far as the Muslims…while they dislike Christians, and hate Jews…Go ahead and tell them ‘there is NO god at all’ they would behead you on the spot.
When you actually read the story (hint) the discussion is about whether people attrcted to the US should actually INTEGRATE into society. America is a unique place, and yes it is a melting pot…however some groups are instead ‘Lumps’ in the oatmeal.
We end up with ethnic neighborhoods, be that Muslim, Indian, Mexican, Cuban, ‘Chinatowns’ etc. Who fly the flag of the homeland and scream about injustice and intolerance, while making no effort beyond signing up for the dole and collecting checks. (Now reported at 1 in 6 people are on Federal assistance and climbing).
Before you mention it I know this existed in the past as well, look at New York and ‘Little Italy’ and the Irish neighborhoods. Difference back then is we had immigration through Ellis Island, knew who people were, looked at their health, skills and finance…or they were denied entry. Also they truly had to work, there weren’t the same programs that allow people to live generation to generation without EVER working a job!
I say welcome to America, but we need to be american not odd hyphenated americans demanding to accomation and any complaint is somehow racist and intolerant.
As far as the Mosque – how did the NY Waiter pony up 5Million in CASH – - not even a Check?
Constitutionality – the first ammendment (and the others) describe the rights of citizens and limitations of government. The Saudi Royal Family, has no first ammendment right to build a Victory mosque. The constitution is not about foreign rights at all.
Just as the Arizona Law is about Federal vs. State, and not as the administration reports – any sort of a HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION. There is no UN Convention on open border policies, equating border enforcement with genocide in Rwanda is such a travesty, Hillary should be brought before congress for sedition!

Islamization:
from Dr. Peter Hammond’s book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat.
Islam is not a religion, nor is it a cult. In its fullest form, it is a complete, total, 100% system of life.
Islam has religious, legal, political, economic, social, and military components.
Islamization begins when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their religious privileges.
When politically correct, tolerant, and culturally diverse societies agree to Muslim demands for their religious privileges, some of the other components tend to creep in as well.
Here’s how it works:
As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:
United States — Muslim 0.6%
Australia — Muslim 1.5%
Canada — Muslim 1.9%
China — Muslim 1.8%
Italy — Muslim 1.5%
Norway — Muslim 1.8%
At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. This is happening in:
Denmark — Muslim 2%
Germany — Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom — Muslim 2.7%
Spain — Muslim 4%
Thailand — Muslim 4.6%
From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply. This is occurring in:
France — Muslim 8%
Philippines — 5%
Sweden — Muslim 5%
Switzerland — Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands — Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad & Tobago — Muslim 5.8%
At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.
When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris , we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam, with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections in:
Guyana — Muslim 10%
India — Muslim 13.4%
Israel — Muslim 16%
Kenya — Muslim 10%
Russia — Muslim 15%
After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:
Ethiopia — Muslim 32.8%
At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:
Bosnia — Muslim 40%
Chad — Muslim 53.1%
Lebanon — Muslim 59.7%
From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in:
Albania — Muslim 70%
Malaysia — Muslim 60.4%
Qatar — Muslim 77..5%
Sudan — Muslim 70%
After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced and in some ways is on-going in:
Bangladesh — Muslim 83%
Egypt — Muslim 90%
Gaza — Muslim 98.7%
Indonesia — Muslim 86.1%
Iran — Muslim 98%
Iraq — Muslim 97%
Jordan — Muslim 92%
Morocco — Muslim 98.7%
Pakistan — Muslim 97%
Palestine — Muslim 99%
Syria — Muslim 90%
Tajikistan — Muslim 90%
Turkey — Muslim 99.8%
United Arab Emirates — Muslim 96%
100% will usher in the peace of ‘Dar-es-Salaam’ — the Islamic House of Peace. Here there’s supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasses are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word, such as in:
Afghanistan — Muslim 100%
Saudi Arabia — Muslim 100%
Somalia — Muslim 100%
Yemen — Muslim 100%

Drdirt, I see that you have found one of the historians that are great to follow to show that other people are not human. I do like how this character shows how Muslims are just very evil people. well if you are using that kind of basis then the Christians are just as bad along with the Jewish folks. the old adage “don’t throw rocks at a glass houses” comes to mind. like I have stated ALL EXTREMIST in all religions are the bad people. I have told several people that are muslin about my views. do they agree, NO. I have tried to keep narrow minded people away from me. Most people want freedom but some of the others would like to have freedom for some, not for all. you cannot prove to me that the hatred between the religions have been any different any other year. it is all the same ” I want to be in power, and the bad people are ________” it has been played for centuries I am surprised that you would have fallen in to such garbage. I would think that you would be a better person than that.

So Cat, do you think immigrants should integrate instead of concentrate by ethnicity?
If we continue on creating mini countries, and demanding the laws of the ‘old country’ in the name of tolerance, how do we ever develop unity as a nation?
By DrDirt on Sep 3, 2010 9:49 am | Reply
Or maybe we should follow the tolerance model of the left?
Some of the Intellegencia on MSNBC and Lib Radio:
“For the people who give a damn about what I say about the Republican Party being murdered, of course it needs to be murdered. It needs to be ended. It is a force for destruction in this country unlike anything that’s ever been domestic. It really is. The commies, the spies sent by the Germans, the freaks, even [Rush] Limbaugh — the head of the Republican Party — is not as damaging as these Republican officeholders….The Republican Party needs to be executed. Rush Limbaugh needs to choke to death on his own fat….The Republican Party needs to be beheaded. It needs to be taken out on some dark moonless night in the middle of a corn field and decapitated.”

Suicide is rampant in his family, and given his alcoholism and his tendencies towards self-destruction, I am only hoping that when Glenn Beck does put a gun to his head and pulls the trigger, that it’s on television, because somebody will capture it on YouTube and it will be the most popular little piece of video for months.”

Yes immigrants should and do integrate into society why do you think that most 2nd generation immigrants cannot speak their parents native language. now for the other items, in my opinion dick cheney and several of the neo-cons should be on trial for treason. Bachmann is just nuts are far as I have seen. and this mike malloy never heard of him. must be the left’s version of rush. but you have only been able to find three that you would find intolerant, on the right that would be one hour hannity. so I dont think it is some contest of which side is bad. they are allowed to express their opinion, you can always change the channel if you dont like what they are saying.

Cat ….Talk about fuzzy math.
“most 2nd generation immigrants cannot speak their parents native language. ”
Really? I must have missed the ESL program, that more than half the mexican kids are UNABLE to speak Spanish. Don’t even think MSNBC was willing to carry that nugget!
I selected just the quotes advocating Killing those on the right!
WHy don’t you show me where Rush or Hannity or anybody every suggested Nancy Peolosi slit her wrists…
“The Republicans lie! They want to see you dead! They’d rather make money off your dead
corpse! They kind of like it when that woman has cancer and they don’t have anything for
her. That’s how the insurance companies make money: by denying the coverage. My God,
Democrats! What’s wrong with you?! You can’t deal with these people! At all!”

“[Former Vice President Dick] Cheney, by the way looks very
ruddy; I couldn’t get over that, like, he must have feasted on a
Jewish baby, or a Muslim baby. He must have sent his people
out to get one and bring it back so he could drink its blood,
because that’s, you know, that’s what somebody like Cheney
does to get that ruddy look….The weird part — there were no
dribbles of blood down his tux, but it was very clear that he had been eating the blood of
either a Jewish or a Muslim baby; he wouldn’t eat a Christian baby. If he ate the blood of a
Christian baby, I — there’s something in the old writings that said that instantly the trap
door to Hell opens and you disappear into the smoke.”

as far as you missing the ESL programs, I would suggest that you would look to some of the people you may know of or have met. Me I have met several people including some in my family that fit this description.now if you havent seen this then maybe you need to broaden your pool of friends. as far as the so called liberal media wanting the right to kill themselves well that that is their right. are they suggesting to take “second amendment” solutions? NO. but the hard right nut jobs have suggested this. so is it bad? yes. but I dont see the right freaking out about the extreme statements from some of the talking heads or the candidates that are spouting this kind of nonsense. apparently this is still not a tit for tat thing, where your side is acting bad that gives me the right to act just as bad. and apparently this mike malloy is more popular with the right than the left. still never heard about him. now the republicans are for big business and would sell you out for a buck. ” the death panels” have been with us since insurance has been around. dont need the government telling people what they can have and what they cant have, got to keep the profits and the huge paychecks for the CEO’s unless you are part of the 2% group them you are just one of the sheep to be led. now me, I dont believe what most of the politicians say I do a bit of looking the info up. it may get cold so keep your wool on.

Jeeze Cat: I know it was a long weekend, but ease up on the Koolaid.
ESL – You have said that Most kids of immigrants cannot speak their parents Native Tounge. Sarcasm aside since you don’t understand. My Inlaws live in SoCal. Sister in law teaches Kindergarten in Palmdale California. I lived in Phoenix for 2 years, and I Guarantee that those hispanic anchor babies speak spanish VERY VERY Well!
So your claim is complete BS
Malloy popular with the right…NO
But he is featured on CNN which is no fan of the right wing. And he calls specifically for the murder of ALL republicans…Not just the Michelle Bachmans and Rush Limbaughs. So The LEFT does advocate a second ammendment solution!
Sharron Angle – never did ADVOCATE a second ammendment solution, she said that those sentiments were growing, which is likely true compared to 2-5 years ago. She NEVER suggested killing anyone. SO at least make an attempt to be a responsible adult Cat.
Tit for Tat… The Tea Partiers are no great fans of George Bush’s spending habits either but it wasn’t this bad. However whenever someone points out that Obama is spending like crazy…YOU immediately state Bush had deficits too….as if that makes it OK. So look in the mirror for justification of poor behaviour.
Healthcare – - yes Insurance will not pony up for anything you might want to do…Trans gender surgery, botox and the absolutely dropped people when they got sick.
Those problems could have been legislatively solved with about a 10 page bill. The left seems to always forget the ebb and flow of who is in power. So while you feel that Kathleen Sebelius is going to make excellent decisions since she was chosen by Obama. In 2013 Obama is out of office and these programs take effect – Are you equally excited about the potential republican POLITICAL appointee? Sebelius is going to do the panel appointments, and no law requires any of these folks to have ANY medical experience, just as Sebelius has ZERO herself.
I frankly was happier to deal with a Insurance Company than the IRS. Under our current system one can appeal the decisions of the panel… but NOT in the future.
So I have no trust of the government – - even on the Right. Look in California at Fiorina and Whitman. WHen people spend 100 million of their own money to (Run for) or land a 150K/year civil service job, something is terribly wrong

as far as the ESL it is about money for the schools, the get money if they have the programs. and yes Sharon Angle did advocate second amendment remedies, but lately she as backed away from this. now the AZ gov lied or in her words misspoke, nope it is still a lie. I do believe we should have a public option. if my tax money is going to fund wars and make the rich richer then yes I think we should have public option.I dont know what kind of decisions that Kathleen Sebelius will make well the policies will not be forever. no the bush supporters that I have known have told me ” surpluses bad, deficits good” and now the same jokers are the ones that are screaming about the deficits. I guess if it only OK if your party are the ones in power. Now the people spending their own money is about nothing but power, pure and simple. I guess they will use the money that they made and stimulate the local economy. and yes I agree with you about something is terribly wrong with the way elections are run. apparently the rich have a vote and it will drown out the everyday folks.

And so it begins- I just received an e-mail from my local [Houston TX] school district: “during announcements at Doerre Intermediate yesterday, the Koran was read from and quoted”.
Imagine how fast the ACLU [and probably you, Cat] would stuff a legal cattle prod up certain fundamental orifices had the school decided that it would read from the Bible during morning announcements; it reminds me of the dilemma of “when is the camel inside the tent?” about how incremental changes are accepted and then all at once, when it is too late, we realize that we should have stopped it when we first saw it
by not challenging Islam and demanding that it comply with the same limitations that are foisted on all other religions in this country, we are de facto allowing it to rise above the law; in the “response”, the school official said “we have some… friends who are Muslim… [and they are] very modern and well-educated” as a justification for the reading; it is not the modern and well-educated Muslims that concern me, except for their willingness [necessity] to stand by and watch the extremists move the religion intonether regions; it is the radicals, the man on the portable PA system in the photos of the eight-year-old being run over by a car, that scare the bejeezus [am I allowed to say that?] out of me – those who believe in the give them an inch and they take a mile approach; if we do not restore the “level” playing field, we WILL become Islamicized, and not in a “religion of peace” way but in a “run over your kid” way
as Earl Pitts would exclaim: “WAKE UP, AMERICA!! Pitts, off”
