I personally don't trust Sarah Palin, as I found long ago that those who spend more time talking about their idealogical credentials than administrative tend to turn out to be rather useless. That said, the article makes a valid point. Democrats and the Fourth Estate have spent a lot of time and energy depicting the GOP as exclusively comprised of stodgy old white guys who hate everybody. One might even say they've bet the farm on it, since it seems the standard leftist response to any challenge has become cry racism/sexism/etc. and hope the audience is sufficiently distracted. Palin's mere presence flies in the face of that so carefuly engineered narrative, which is probably why they're opting for the damnatio memoriae route.

To be fair though, Republicans aren't exactly very effective at pushing back. Case in point, their 2008 presidential candidates pretty much typified the Republican party as portrayed by the Democratic party. Palin, as a sort of "counter-Obama" is a good start but it simply isn't going to go anywhere if leadership continues to run RINOs and hope voters won't see through them.
