It’s amazing how a group in such minority can get away with. It seems as though they are trying to impose their beliefs on the majority.

That’s because they are. A long time ago, before atheism became a dogmatic religion itself, it was sufficient to simply not pray along with everybody else. Only an ignorant yokel would begrudge someone of that, and only a supremely arrogant man would challenge others’ spirituality of any sort in the name of logic, and so all was well.
Then two things happened. First was the ‘me and me alone’ politically-correct menatality we see on display in courts, schools and businesses every day wherein if you don’t like something, instead of ignoring it you bitch loudly until everybody else bends to your will. Democracy loves a demagogue. Then came the evangelical atheists, who apparently decided their most valid point (that religious people can be too pushy) sounded like too far much fun to pass up and set out to convince everyone else that theirs is the One True Path and everyone else is a godful heathen to be shunned and persecuted. Some claim to do it in the name of science, but true science is blind to politics and the truth is many of them just want to pave the way for militant statism akin to the Stalin-era Soviet Union or–perhaps more relevant–Maoist China.
