I woke up Saturday morning to three E-mails
Written by chuck on July 26, 2008 – 9:41 am -I woke up Saturday morning to three E-mails.
The first was from the Republican party asking for money for the McCain campaign.
I sent them the message below:
I am a Ronald Reagan conservative and it is a shame the GOP does not follow in his footsteps. There is no way I would give a dime to McCain and I may even stay home on November 4th.
The GOP needs to get it’s act together.
Then I read the E-mail below:
As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . .’we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . . As with so many other statements I’ve heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I’d see the day that I’d hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding Fathers intended it to be.
I also cannot believe a presidential candidate would make a statement like this in the USA.
The last E-mail was about Obama plane having his logo instead of the American flag. I did some research and it is true, but McCain plane does NOT have the American flag either.
We really have no choice in 2008.
I feel very sorry for my eight year of grandson.
Comments are welcome

Yes when our nation was created, It was created by Christians. However; during that time. Little was know about Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, Philippines, South Americans. Mexicans.
Basically all we knew about, was British Isle, Westren Eupope, and Africa because of the slave Trade. Then we made laws and one of them was That we welcomed and anyone that wanted to come to America to be free.
So we had people from Asia, Eastern Eupoe, S America, mexico Africa, the middle East , along with west European, and British Isles.
Becassue of That we now have Christans of all types.
Jews
Muslims, Budist and other Asian religions.
We are not a Christian Nation and haven’t been for at least a hundred years or more. We are a nation of Many religions trying all to get along.
So Barack Obama is correct we are not a nation of just Christians.
And it wasn’t our forefathers intent for it to be. It was meant to be a a nation where anyone to go to to escape religious persecution.

We need to go back to the values of the Reagan era. God is not allowed anywhere, but muslims get to have their footbaths in airports. It seems like we let any third rate piss-ant country spit in our face, while good hard working folks have to choose between gas and food. When are some of the so called leaders in this country going to grow some balls and stand up for America? God bless these United States!

I’m not crazy about mcCain but I think he’s the better of two evils. My wife is not voting but I feel as though I must vote in order to keep Obama out. GOD BLESS US ALL !!!!!!

Roger, I agree with you. As much as I hate to vote for McCain, I may close my eyes and vote for him.

I think most experienced Republicans don’t really approve of McCain. If enough of them stay home and don’t vote, I don’t think they will approve of what Obama does to our country either.

If we could survive four years under Obama, the Republican Party might wake up. The key words in the above sentence is “If we could survive four years”.

It is a damn shame Ron Paul didn’t get the Republican ticket. He was the best candidate this year for sure. I would never vote for McCain, so my vote goes to Obama. As for this being a Christian Nation. This country was actually founded by Atheists. The men responsible for building the foundation of the United States had little use for Christianity, and many were strongly opposed to it. When the Founders wrote the nation’s Constitution, they specified that “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” (Article 6, section 3) This provision was radical in its day– giving equal citizenship to believers and non-believers alike. They wanted to ensure that nobeing the official, single religion could make the claim of national religion, such as England had. Nowhere in the Constitution does it mention religion, except in exclusionary terms. The words “Jesus Christ, Christianity, Bible, and God” are never mentioned in the Constitution– not once.

The way I see it, is that before Jesus there were no Christians. So when Christ came along he said, “Let us all love each other ( or at least give it a shot)”. That is the way I read it. Should, I be going to Bible Study, to set me straight? This country is BASED on freedom of Religion. That means that you can worship as you see fit. Be it, in your living room watching the Giants, or sitting around your radio listening to Rush Limbaugh. My experience with you “I can’t believe they don’t fear GOD clones” is that you don’t seem to have a spiritual bone in you. Kindly pick up your Jesus shirt at your favorite retail outlet. Bumper stickers are free. So what do you actually expect out of your government? Do you want a “good old boy system”? Did the Native Americans teach you nothing? Are you really ready to have a full scale Democracy? If you don’t believe in it, please leave our AMERICAN flag before you go I’ll send your mail to Belize. Maybe you can start YOUR own country over there.
Did, I miss the mark?
Reminds me that Jesus came to visit three times and the woman turned him away preparing for her visit as to impress the almighty. Turned him away because he came in rags.
If you are upset with the Constitution because Athiests wrote it, check again. They just did’nt want to happen what has happened in our time. We forgot what it means to be American. It certainly doesn’t mean listening to the likes of Rush Limbaugh and spreading his message.
If you don’t like the Constitution, there is a big fat globe of a world out there for you to flee to. Otherwise, become a Republican, I am sure they have a place for you. Obama/Biden want to bring us back as a nation (a nation) MCain/Palin think it’s a popularity contest. It’s your life in this country, vote or get out of my way.

I am fighting a losing battle here. You will vote in another Republican, just because you won’t give up. I am the same way. However, in the 236 years years this country has been aloft, my grandmother who was born in 1899 taught me this, “don’t cut off your nose, to spite your face”. Sometime, you have to do whats best for our country rather than your own best interests. It is not about us it is about our country. We can have our own ideas and beliefs, that is why we are Americans. Read the constitution. Decide if you are an American or if you are a separtist. Live and let live. Stop the government from spending your money in forgein nations and not helping Americans. And if the only Amrican at home spending you can see is going to immigrants, get off your asses, and look at your neighbor child who is strung out on crack. Or your Co worker, who comes to work with a black eye.
We all know those Katrina victims just had their hand out, right? Victory in Iraq, but no one really knows what that means until George W brings his severed head to us. I predict he will. Hell, Bin Ladin ‘s probably been sitting in a villa on the French Rivera for the past five years. But, hell, the ends justify the means.
Please leave our flag at the door……Jesus forever!

Wow. Good thing this was posted in the “Ramblings” section.

I really just can’t believe that you think our forefathers fought for a Christian nation. That’s probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. You are very ignorant and lack knowledge. If you really where a thinking man you would know that God is not even real.
By chuck on Sep 11, 2008 10:34 am | Reply
Pico…It is a good thing you are on a blog in the USA, in many places you do not have freedom of speech.
By redbulll on Sep 12, 2008 11:39 am | Reply
our forefathers may not have fought specifically for a christian nation but they did come here for religious freedom, not freedom from religion. if you don’t believe in god that is your right as an american citizen. but it is my right to believe as i see fit, so thanks for your OPINION but that is all it is. anytime you can take a watch apart and put all the pieces in a bag and shake it arround and have it put itself back together, i will agree that there is no supreme being who had a hand in our creation.
By Paul on Sep 16, 2008 1:07 am | Reply
@ chuck: IMO that is a not so subtle way of saying that we really don’t have freedom of speech. That reminds me of when someone commented on Mrs. Palin’s pregnant daughter and the reflection it made on the “family values” she preaches on a far right political blog and nearly got flamed off the site for “calling pregnancy a disease” which they, by the way, never did.
However, the way pico phrased their post makes me think that they are the one who is “ignorant and lack[s] knowledge.” I’m an atheist too, but this country was built on the premise of freedom, whether that freedom is freedom of faith, freedom of race, or the right to bear arms. Making derogatory comments about a person’s intelligence based on their religion (or lack thereof) is pointless, immature, and incredibly close-minded.
The local cruise night I attend has a standing offer: if you don’t like it in the US, they will pay for a one-way ticket to anywhere in the world (your choice), and I agree with that sentiment wholeheartedly. We may not be the country we once were, but I’m still proud to be an American.

To Paul: I never called him “ignorant and lack[s] knowledge” because he believes in God. Yes I agree that would be VERY close-minded and immature. I did not do this. I was referring to: “To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation…..” That is very incorrect. Obama is right, the founding fathers fought for religious freedom, not for a Christian nation. So, yes, his comment was both ignorant and without knowledge.

I’m getting tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. I WANT A CANDIDATE I CAN BE PROUD TO VOTE FOR.
I don’t like or trust McCain, I fear Obama.
By Pico on Sep 22, 2008 7:33 am | Reply
Its hard to trust a candidate that is slipping into senility.
By duckduffer on Sep 24, 2008 2:54 am | Reply
Folks… Who ever you want to vote for Please vote for. What concerns me most is the ones that say they will stay home this election day. People WAKE UP – We have Brave Men and Woman of the US Armed Forces fighting and dieing EVERY DAY so that we have the fight to vote! If you do not want to vote for anyone.. at least go to the pool.. close that curtain look at the names. If you still do not want to vote for someone either write in a name or open the curtain. Go to the Polls at the very least, someone died today for your rigtht to vote… do not ignore that.

The above comment was meant for Republicans or people that may vote Republican. If you are going to vote Democrat, go ahead and stay home.

I certainly am glad that someone else picked up on the fact that “Obuma” was getting senile. I was beginning to question my sanity. Thanks Pico.
