Drunk Chicken
Written by chuck on April 22, 2007 – 4:50 pm -First you need a stand that can be bought at Walmart. (cookware section)
Next open a can of Budweiser and dump about 1/2 of the can out ( or drink it) and fill with any seasonings you like.
Put the beer can in the stand, then spread the chickens legs apart and slide it over the beer can. Place in foil pan on gas grill and set at medium cook 2 hours. A charcoal grill will also work. About 30 minutes before you take the chicken off of the grill, baste with olive oil.

I’ve heard this as “beer in the butt chicken” and it’s great! It’s definitely a recipe everyone who likes chicken should try at least once. :-)

We’ve made this recipe a dozen times and absolutely love it. Follow the same directions with the beer, but put about 2 tbs. of the following rub into the beer can before inserting it into the chicken. Then, generously rub the rest all over the outside of the chicken. This rub is also excellent on steak and fish.
Memphis Rub
1/4 cup paprika
1 tablespoon firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons accent (MSG; optional)
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 to 3 teaspoons cayenne pepper, or to taste
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Combine all the ingredients in a jar, twist the lid on airtight, and shake to mix. Store away from heat or light for up to six months. Makes about 1/2 cup. Enough for 4 to 6 racks of ribs.
